Identify press tool requirements to build concepts pertaining to design of press tools
Prepare working drawings and setup for economic production of sheet metal components
Select suitable materials for different elements of press tools

Elaborate failure mechanisms of pressed components, safety aspects and automation in press working

Introduction to Press Working –

Classification of common Press working operations, Benefits and limitations of using Press tools. Applications of pressed parts/components.
Theory of Shearing in Press Working. Optimum Cutting clearance & its effect on tolerances of pressed components. Construction of Basic shearing die. Functions of different elements of a press tool. Methods of feeding the strip/coil material. 08

Bending and Drawing-
